Flex Builder 2 free for students and faculty at educational institutions worldwide
I’ve had several conversations over the last few weeks with customers who have advised me that Adobe should be giving away Flex Builder to students around the world. Well, last October we announced that we were doing this.
SAN JOSE, Calif. — October 24, 2007 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced that it is offering Adobe® Flex™ Builder™ 2 software at no cost to students and faculty at educational institutions worldwide. The Flex Builder 2 integrated development environment (IDE) is part of a powerful toolset for designing and developing rich Internet applications (RIAs), an essential part of Web 2.0.

Is there some kind of customer support available for the program? I signed up late last year (over two months ago) and I’m yet to hear anything.
I wasn’t sure I should risk re-submitting so as not to get disqualified or something. I’m taking website design this semester. I’d appreciate if you can let me know via my e-mail.
Thanks.

Mike I submitted my info and within a week had the program and have enjoyed learning how to use it and following in what the blogs and forums have been talking about Flex. Looking forward to Flex 3 coming out. Just been working on samples to understand everything better.

As a student myself I applied for this in December as was given a serial the next day. Brilliant service! Which is different to the Adobe exchange where it takes more than two weeks for your item to be approved…

Still waiting for my requests to be fulfilled. I tried calling Adobe yesterday actually before reading this post. I was redirected from Flex pre-sales to Adobe Customer Service to Programmers Paradise and back to Adobe Customer Service. In the end, I still do not have any information regarding my request and was informed to wait the specified 2 weeks. I submitted last month (late January) after not hearing anything regarding my first request in November 2007!!
Adobe, what gives? I know that you may be swamped with requests, but some notification regarding the status of those requests would be great customer service instead of leaving people in the dark - just waiting. Thanks for letting me vent.

Now that Flex Builder 3 is out- what is the process for upgrading these free faculty licenses from FB2? I just submitted a license request and the serials I got were still FB2 serials… Can’t find any info on this.

I’m currently lecturing Computer Science in Beijing. The course is franchised and endorsed by an American college. (and taught in English, fortunately). I’ve been trying persuade them to let me put together a ActionScript3 / AIR course.
I’d like to register for this offer, on the off-chance they’ll allow me to teach such a course. As Joseph says, FB3 is out now. And my focus is AIR…
