I've been a customer of and beta tester for Serious Magic since the first version of Visual Communicator was released several years ago. Their products are obviously innovative. However, just as innovative has been their pricing and customer support. This company has very big bang for the buck products and customer service that is the very best in the business. This superb customer support is also free -- whether through their support forum, email or via telephone there was never a fee charged for support. What concerns me is that Adobe will butcher Serious Magic's reputation for terrific service and support by being slow to respond to consumer problems. In addition, I can't imagine Adobe keeping prices, including upgrade pricing, as low as they are now for Serious Magic stuff. Finally, I fear that Adobe will want to charge Serious Magic customers for telephone support, ala $1,200 annually. So, Adobe, realize what made Serious Magic a great company and don't screw things up.

Unfortunately, the price of SM products will go up under Adobe. Usually the creative people behind acquired companies bail out for one reason or another in a short time.

As far as computer video/graphics go, there isn't anyone in the market competing with this company. Innovation is what these guys are about. Several of these guys have history that goes back to the glory days of the Amiga computer. They were a part of something created there called the Video Toaster for the Amiga 2000 originally. When good video effects hardware cost around 100K these guys kicked out a machine on the market (the video toaster crew) that cost a combined price of less than 5K! It seems this same passion for innovations and power has dominated Serious Magic years later. This team will be great for the Adobe company and for us it's customers!
