Very nice use of Flash video. I like seeing more online video experiences that synchronize video showing multiple camera angles. Well done, MSNBC team!

My first podcast
July 5th, 2005Mike Chambers invited me to participate in the second-ever Macromedia Developer Relations Podcast last week. Mike interviewed me and asked questions about product management at Macromedia, how a product gets built at the company, and of course, 8ball – the next release of the Flash authoring tool.
Now that I’ve done my first podcast, I have to admit, I’m getting hooked. I’ve been enjoying the new iTunes podcast feature, which greatly simplifies seeking out good podcast content. In fact, Mike and Christian have already published the Macromedia podcast to the iTunes service. Learn how to access it via iTunes here.
You can download the podcast (mp3) here.
Missing FlashForward New York…
July 4th, 2005I’m totally bummed that I couldn’t attend FlashForward this week, but as I indicated in my earlier post, I’m in Europe for the next two weeks doing a press tour for the upcoming release.
Mike Chambers and Danny Dura will be attending, however, so be sure to say “hi” to them. I suspect there will be a vicious Halo tournament at some point in the week. I’m especially sad that I won’t be there so Mike and I can womp on everyone again.
For those of you who are attending the conference, have fun and don’t let Mike get the shotgun – he’s unstoppable when he gets it…
On the road – European press tour
July 4th, 2005I’m on the road in Europe for the next two weeks (with a much needed week of vacation to follow) on press tour. We’re spending the first week in the UK, currently at our shiny new offices in Bracknell, just outside of London. We’ll be talking with press and analysts, training the regional staff (sales and marketing) and meeting with some key customers as we ramp up for the big Studio release later this summer.
This is the best part of a Product Manager’s job. We get to travel all around the world showing key people the work that our teams have spent so much time working on. In this case, we’re on the “long-lead” tour which generally starts 3 – 6 months before a launch. It’s intended to give people enough lead time to prepare for full reviews of the products to be ready on the day of the announcement.
I’ll be posting on and off over the next two weeks. I may also share some photos from my trip using Flickr’s auto-blog-posting feature.
As a side note, I was hoping to meet up with Peter, Aral, and Guy, but they’re all in New York this week for FlashForward. Figures…
